Head of Operations
About Us
At Near, we help top talent in Latin America find remote roles with US companies. Our mission is to create better lives by fostering a remote work culture that transcends borders.
About the Company
Our client is a bootstrapped DTC brand of bags and accessories for frequent and business travelers, founded in based in Florida. They sell online, manufacture overseas and ship from a US warehouse. The brand has served more than 20,000 customers and has been featured in major business and travel publications.
About the Role
As Head of Operations, you will own the flow of product from factory to customer. You will manage the factory agent, the logistics partner, the 3PL warehouse and a team of 3 direct reports: 2 customer service team members and 1 Operations & Reporting Manager. You will report to the CEO.
This is a player-coach role on a lean team. Systems, spreadsheets and SOPs are already in place. Your job is to keep things moving, check the numbers before they go to leadership, and push the business ahead. Factory lead times are about 90 days, so careful inventory planning is central to the job.
We are looking for a calm, detail-obsessed and decisive operator. This person owns their numbers, raises bad news early with a proposed solution, and works alongside the team. You will be the link between operations, marketing and finance. The team meets in person in Florida about once a year.
Key Responsibilities
Lead 3 direct reports with weekly priorities, owners, deadlines and regular 1:1s.
Plan inventory and recommend what to reorder and when, based on weekly sell-through by SKU.
Verify all reported numbers: monthly close, ending inventory, COGS, landed COGS and warehouse invoices.
Track inventory commitments, supplier payments, landed costs and cash flow, and update the monthly cash flow forecast.
Manage the factory agent relationship, including POs, costs, MOQs and lead times.
Manage the logistics and 3PL warehouse partners, including rates, shipments, delays and invoice disputes.
Act as the escalation point for customer service and make day-to-day calls without needing approval.
Present inventory insights and reorder recommendations at the weekly leadership meeting.
Keep marketing and finance informed of stock levels, delays and launch changes as soon as they are known.
Improve SOPs and automate repetitive tasks with AI tools such as Claude.
Requirements
4+ years in operations, supply chain or logistics at a physical consumer products brand selling DTC or on Amazon.
Experience planning inventory and reorders with overseas suppliers and long lead times.
Strong with numbers: inventory close, COGS, landed COGS, cash flow and advanced Google Sheets or Excel.
Ready to lead a team of 3 while doing hands-on work; formal people management is a plus.
Experience building automated workflows with AI tools (ideally Claude), or a strong interest in learning.
Fluent written and spoken English; full-time only, US Eastern business hours, based within 2 hours of US Eastern Time.
Nice to Have
Experience running operations under the EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) framework.
Experience managing a customer service team.
