At Near, we help top talent in Latin America find remote roles with US companies. Our mission is to create better lives by fostering a remote work culture that transcends borders.
Our client is a US-based, AI-native commercial insurance agency that helps small businesses get the coverage they need. Its customers are Main Street businesses across the US: restaurants, bars, construction contractors, spas, salons and more. The company is an early-stage, fast-growing startup building its own technology, including an in-house CRM, to make buying commercial insurance faster and simpler.
We are looking for an Insurance Intake Specialist to be the first live voice that small-business owners talk to once they’re ready to get a quote. Customers are warm inbound leads who have already asked for coverage. Their calls are transferred straight to you, and your job is to guide them through a full insurance application, usually a 20–40 minute conversation about their business, operations and risk.
Many of these customers are busy business owners, often in Texas, Florida and the Midwest, and some will want to cut the call short. The ideal candidate is a confident, high-energy communicator who builds rapport quickly, keeps the conversation going and gets every application completed. Once the application is done, you’ll hand it to the licensed sales team, who present quotes and close the business. This is not a sales role, and no insurance license is required.
This is a remote, full-time contractor role aligned with US business hours.
Handle back-to-back inbound calls from small-business owners, transferred in real time through the company’s CRM.
Run complete intake calls, gathering detailed information about each business (revenue, operations, building, customers, and more) to fill out the insurance application.
Keep customers engaged and on the line for the full application, handling objections like “I’m busy” or “How much longer will this take?” with confidence and empathy.
Enter information accurately and completely in the CRM in real time.
Hand completed submissions to the sales team for quoting and binding.
Complete around 15 submissions per day, getting faster as you master the application.
Adapt quickly to frequent changes in processes, tools and product in a fast-paced startup environment.
Excellent spoken English with a soft, neutral accent, comfortable talking with US business owners.
Experience in inbound calls, client intake, customer service, call center or similar phone-based roles with US customers.
A proven ability to hold long conversations (30–40 minutes) and keep people engaged until the task is done.
A go-getter, high-energy attitude, resilient when facing pushback.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy with data entry while talking on the phone.
Comfortable with new software and fast-changing workflows.
Junior profiles (1–2 years) with the right attitude are welcome, as well as mid-level profiles with consistent experience in similar roles.
Experience in US insurance is a plus, especially commercial lines.
10 US federal holidays, plus emergency medical time off.
Remote, full-time contractor position.
Schedule: 8 AM – 5 PM or 9 AM – 6 PM Central Time, with a one-hour lunch break.
Full training on insurance specifics.
Opportunity to join an early-stage, AI-native startup and grow with the company.
