At Near, we connect top talent in Latin America with exciting remote opportunities at U.S.-based companies. Our mission is to create better lives by fostering a remote work culture that transcends borders.
About the Company and Role
Our client is a growing, acquisitive multi-entity group, and their central accounting team keeps the close running for every operating company. We're hiring an accountant to own the full path of every bill, from receipt and coding through accrual, and the recurring mechanics that make month-end close land on time.
This is a hands-on role for someone who likes a reliable rhythm and takes pride in clean schedules. Most of the month is well-defined recurring work, along with keeping tax deadlines on track. You'll report to the Senior Accountant and work closely with the AP and expense team and their tax teams.
What you'll own
Payables and expenses: first-pass AP review and GL coding; daily expense-report review in Expensify, including receipt follow-up, approvals and twice-weekly reimbursement runs; a weekly AP report across Expensify and Ramp; AP cut-off on the last business day of the month.
Accruals and prepaids: maintain the accrued expenses schedule and post estimate and final entries in close week; prepare the month-end addback; keep the prepaid amortization schedule current and post the final entry before month-end.
Close reporting and P&L flux: send daily GL detail and P&L files to FP&A through close with a clear summary of what changed; write P&L variance commentary in the first week of close.
Balance sheet support: run the balance sheet reconciliation tracker and follow up with operating company controllers until recs are complete; prepare monthly debt rollforwards; roll forward month end check files for goodwill and earnouts.
Tax support: route tax notices from our Stable mailbox to the right preparer; make, mail and track tax payments around filing deadlines; keep deadlines moving by coordinating with our internal tax team and outside preparers; help prepare transfer pricing support and quarterly filing calculations; pull GL detail and schedules for tax requests; and keep organized records of every notice, payment and confirmation.
Trackers and team admin: update the earnout tracker and related communications; publish the team's monthly close calendar; set up KPI folders for new acquisitions; run the quarterly Expensify user access review and handle system access requests; and help sort and route incoming mail.
What you bring
2–5+ years of accounting experience in public accounting, corporate accounting, or both, including hands-on month-end close work.
A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
Working command of accruals, prepaid amortization, AP cut-off and account reconciliations.
Strong Excel: rollforward schedules, pivot tables, lookups and tie-outs you'd be happy for an auditor to open.
Experience with expense and AP tools such as Expensify, Ramp or Bill.com.
Clear, concise writing, and the persistence to chase missing receipts and recs politely until they arrive.
An organized self-starter who stays calm under close-week and tax deadlines, keeps work moving without being asked, and documents how things are done.
Nice to Have
Multi-entity or private-equity-backed experience, including working with acquired companies.
Exposure to debt schedules, earnout accounting or goodwill.
Experience writing variance commentary for FP&A or leadership.
Exposure to multi-state tax compliance, estimated tax payments or transfer pricing.
