About Us:
At Near, we help top talent in Latin America find remote roles with US companies. Our mission is to create better lives by fostering a remote work culture that transcends borders.
About Our Client:
Our client is a one-stop shop for production accounting and state tax incentives, supporting film and TV projects with budgets of roughly USD 5M to 20M. They set up the accounting for each show, recommend staff, close out final expenses and take each project through audit until the state issues its tax credit.
About the role
We're hiring our first Accounting Coordinator to support our team across several productions at once. You'll work behind the scenes alongside our internal team and each show's accounting team, with real ownership once you know the systems.
What you'll do
- Set up production bank accounts, charts of accounts and accounting software for new shows.
- Enter and code data for each production, and complete bank reconciliations.
- Prepare state tax incentive applications, entering each show's budget into the state's template and gathering the required documentation.
- Pay final bills and close out accounts once shows wrap and move into post-production.
- Prepare local expenditure reports.
- Build and maintain the data room, and support audits and requests from state Departments of Revenue.
- On oversight engagements, review incentive tagging weekly and support the lead accountant with data entry.
What you bring
- Production accounting experience at assistant or coordinator level, in film, TV or commercials.
- Hands-on experience with at least one or two production accounting platforms, such as GreenSlate, EP Smart Accounting, Cast & Crew, Wrapbook, Cashét or Dolly Card.
- Experience with bank reconciliations, account setup and data entry.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Good written and spoken English for emails and calls with our team.
- Comfortable juggling several productions at once while keeping every detail accurate.
Nice to have
- Experience preparing state tax incentive applications or supporting incentive audits.
- Experience working with US-based productions or clients.
Contract, schedule and compensation
- Full-time independent contractor, remote.
- Initial contract through March 2027, with the possibility of extending and growing into a long-term role.
- Monday to Friday, available from 8 AM to 6 PM ET. Hours may vary slightly depending on each show's needs.
- Compensation: USD 2,000 to 2,800 per month.
- Paid holidays that fall within the contract period.
