At Near
At Near, we connect top talent in Latin America with exciting remote opportunities at U.S.-based companies. Our mission is to create better lives by fostering a remote work culture that transcends borders.
About the Company:
Our client is a group travel marketplace based in Portland, Oregon. They connect hosts, creators and community leaders who want to travel with their audiences, with local tour operators around the world who run the trips. Travelers book and pay through their platform, and they pay hosts their earnings and operators for the trips they deliver. They work as a global team to create meaningful impact. With innovation and collaboration at their core, they are transforming how group travel operates and building brighter futures for travelers, hosts, and local tour operators worldwide.
About the Role:
We’re looking for a detail-minded staff accountant or senior bookkeeper who combines technical mastery with grit and confidence. You’ll own accounts payable and, after a short handoff, host and operator payments and collaborate with the Accounting Manager, VP Finance, and wider accounting team to create accurate financial records and smooth payment operations. This role requires someone who is detail-minded, proactive, and solution-oriented, takes initiative in the face of ambiguity, and delivers high-quality results even when challenges arise.
You Will:
Code and process vendor bills and contractor payments in Ramp and NetSuite.
Reconcile Ramp and Transferz activity to NetSuite each month.
Post bank-feed activity in NetSuite and keep it current.
Prepare and submit insurance manifests for upcoming trips.
Prepare host earnings and operator payment batches from system reports, including payments in other currencies.
Reconcile host and operator prepaid balances each month.
Answer routine host and operator payment questions using templates, and escalate anything unusual the same day.
Prepare the payroll journal entry from the payroll provider’s summary report.
Support month-end close tasks and the annual audit with schedules and supporting documents.
Keep written procedures current as processes change, and over time, take on AR and revenue reconciliation work as it is documented.
About You:
Your Background:
3 or more years of experience in accounts payable, bookkeeping or staff accounting.
Deep knowledge of preparing vendor payments and reconciliations.
Experience with an ERP or accounting system (NetSuite strongly preferred; QuickBooks, Xero or Sage Intacct considered).
Strong professional English, written and spoken — comfortable writing to vendors and partners.
High attention to detail, and the judgment to stop and ask when something looks wrong.
Self-motivated, proactive, and emotionally mature — you take ownership of outcomes and adhere strictly to internal financial controls.
Able to thrive under stress and manage complex, ambiguous situations with a secure work setup (dedicated work device, reliable internet, and multi-factor authentication).
Nice to Have:
NetSuite experience, including bills, payments and bank reconciliations.
Multi-currency or international payments experience.
Experience with Ramp or a similar spend-management tool.
Accounting degree or progress toward a professional qualification.
Experience in travel, marketplaces or other businesses with many small payees.
