Head of Finance and Operations (COO)
Remote
Compensation: Final offer depending on experience
At Near, we connect top talent in Latin America with remote opportunities at U.S.-based companies. Our mission is to create better lives by fostering a remote work culture that transcends borders.
About the Company:
Our client is a fractional CFO and FP&A practice serving founder-led companies. Its distributed team pairs finance services with software built in-house.
About the Role:
We’re looking for a COO to be the founder’s right hand and run the business day to day, so the founder can focus on scaling sales. You will own operations end to end: delivery, team, process, and tooling. This is not a sales role. You may work directly with clients or step into delivery work initially, but the long-term focus is leading the organization, making the practice run smoothly at scale, and acting as the founder’s most trusted operating partner.
You Will:
Act as the founder’s right hand, owning execution of company priorities and running the operating cadence of the business.
Lead day-to-day delivery across the finance and accounting team and be accountable for service quality and client outcomes.
Own staffing, utilization, billing, and client onboarding, and tie them to clear operating metrics.
Build practical, scalable processes grounded in clients’ finance and accounting needs.
Evaluate finance and client-management tools, and make the call on when to buy software or build it internally.
Set priorities for internal software development together with the founder.
Improve how client requests are handled across email, Slack, and phone.
Hire, develop, and manage team leads as the practice grows.
Take on hands-on work when needed during the transition.
About You:
Your Background:
You’ve held a COO, GM, Head of Operations, or similar senior role at an accounting or finance agency, BPO, outsourced finance firm, or comparable services business.
You’ve been a founder’s or CEO’s right hand and are comfortable owning execution while the founder looks outward.
You combine finance or accounting knowledge with experience leading teams and delivery.
You understand client needs and can translate them into effective processes, staffing, and operating metrics.
You’re comfortable evaluating finance software and making build-versus-buy recommendations.
You communicate clearly and are a trusted operating partner who can push back when needed.
Your accomplishments matter more than a fixed number of years of experience.
Nice to Have:
Experience introducing client communication, ticketing, or reconciliation systems.
Experience at a services business that develops its own software.
Experience scaling operations in a growing, distributed team.
