This is a role for our client, The Pets Table, a pet food brand within the HelloFresh Group that offers personalized, high-quality meals for dogs delivered directly to customers' doors. The company is growing rapidly and is looking to expand its Procurement team with a new Inventory Operations Associate.
We’re looking for an Inventory Operations Associate who is highly analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with large amounts of data. In this role, you’ll take ownership of inventory management and reporting across our third-party warehouse network, helping ensure inventory accuracy, identify discrepancies, and turn data into actionable insights.
The role will also support procurement operations, including purchasing and supply planning. While the position will primarily focus on inventory management and analytics, responsibilities may expand temporarily to support broader procurement activities.
Reporting to the Associate Director of Procurement, you’ll work closely with warehouse teams, Purchasing, Demand Planning, Finance, and other cross-functional teams to improve inventory accuracy, operational efficiency, and supply chain reliability.
Own inventory accuracy across third-party warehouse locations.
Build and maintain weekly inventory health reporting, tracking metrics such as Days of Supply (DOS), stockout risks, inventory levels, and turnover.
Analyze inventory data to identify trends, discrepancies, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Coordinate and reconcile periodic cycle counts and physical inventory audits.
Monitor aging, slow-moving, and obsolete inventory and support strategies to address these items.
Track inventory write-offs, damages, shortages, overages, and receiving discrepancies.
Partner with warehouse teams to investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies within defined timelines.
Manipulate and analyze large datasets from multiple sources to identify actionable insights.
Conduct root-cause analysis of inventory variances and discrepancies, connecting physical inventory movements with reported data.
Investigate inventory valuation discrepancies by reconciling expected inventory movements against actual inventory levels.
Build and improve automated reporting and workflows using Excel and Google Sheets.
Use SQL to extract and analyze inventory data from internal databases when needed.
Support Purchasing and Demand Planning with inventory levels, reorder points, and safety stock coverage.
Place and track purchase orders and monitor inventory levels against forecasts.
Support supply planning and other procurement activities as needed.
During periods of increased team coverage needs, support additional procurement responsibilities.
Work closely with third-party warehouse teams to investigate and resolve inventory issues.
Partner with Finance on inventory valuation and reconciliation activities.
Collaborate with Purchasing, Demand Planning, and other teams to ensure accurate and timely inventory information.
Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to stakeholders across the organization.
2–4 years of experience in supply chain, procurement operations, inventory management, or a related field.
Hands-on experience working with physical inventory and warehouse operations.
Strong experience with Excel and/or Google Sheets, including manipulating large datasets, building reporting, and creating automated workflows.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify insights and trends from data.
Ability to investigate discrepancies and connect physical inventory movements with digital records and reports.
Solid understanding of inventory management principles and inventory valuation.
Experience working with consumer goods, food, pharmaceutical, retail, or other physical-product environments is highly preferred.
Experience with SQL and querying databases is a strong plus.
Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), EDI portals, or other inventory-related systems is a plus.
Comfortable learning new systems and tools quickly.
Familiarity with generative AI tools and experience incorporating them into day-to-day work is a plus.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and time-sensitive deadlines.
Proactive and comfortable taking ownership in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Fluent in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM ET, with flexibility to support occasional urgent needs outside regular working hours.
