At Near, we help top talent in Latin America find remote roles with US companies. Our mission is to create better lives by fostering a remote work culture that transcends borders.
This position is for our client, a growing leader in the solar energy and home services industry, committed to operational excellence, safety, quality, and developing high-performing teams across multiple markets.
About the Role
The Director of Learning, Development & Enablement will be responsible for building and leading the company’s learning function from the ground up. This person will establish learning standards, onboarding programs, curricula, assessments, certifications, proficiency requirements, and development pathways across the organization.
The role will initially focus on Fulfillment and technical operations, working closely with Operations, Quality, Safety, Engineering, Product, and other teams to connect learning directly to employee readiness and business performance.
The ideal candidate is a learning leader who thinks like an operator: highly autonomous, strategically minded, comfortable working with technical and operational teams, and capable of turning complex subject matter into scalable learning experiences that improve performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and lead the company-wide Learning, Development & Enablement function, including strategy, standards, processes, team structure, and roadmap.
- Own Dynamic University and the company LMS, ensuring learning resources remain organized, current, and scalable.
- Develop structured onboarding, role-based learning paths, curricula, assessments, certifications, and proficiency standards.
- Initially focus on Fulfillment and technical operations, including installers, electricians, field teams, service teams, coordinators, and operational leaders.
- Define role-readiness, skills-verification, and proficiency standards across technical and operational roles.
- Balance self-paced learning, digital courses, instructor-led training, hands-on practice, and experiential learning.
- Lead the development of digital courses, SCORM content, videos, job aids, assessments, certifications, and other learning resources.
- Lead and develop Training, Instructional Design, LMS, and Learning & Enablement resources.
- Establish train-the-trainer programs for managers, supervisors, and subject-matter experts.
- Partner with subject-matter experts to rapidly learn complex business and technical domains and translate that knowledge into effective learning experiences.
- Use operational, quality, safety, adoption, and performance data to proactively identify learning needs and performance gaps.
- Partner with Operations, Quality, Safety, Product Implementation & Adoption, Business Intelligence, and other teams to support process and technology changes.
- Determine whether performance issues require training or are better addressed through process, technology, management, or accountability changes.
- Measure training effectiveness based on proficiency, readiness, and business performance rather than course completion alone.
- Use AI, automation, and modern learning technology to improve the speed, quality, accessibility, and scalability of learning.
- Build scalable learning systems that can support multiple markets, products, systems, and operational roles.
Must-Have Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in corporate training, learning & development, enablement, technical training, workforce development, or a comparable function.
- 3+ years of experience leading a training team, learning function, department, or significant operational learning program.
- Proven experience building onboarding programs, curricula, assessments, certifications, or role-based development programs from the ground up.
- Experience supporting technical, engineering, operational, field-based, or geographically distributed workforces.
- Strong understanding of adult learning and practical skills development.
- Experience with LMS administration, digital learning, and instructor-led training.
- Experience designing or overseeing hands-on learning, proficiency validation, or practical skills assessment.
- Ability to rapidly learn unfamiliar business or technical domains, extract knowledge from subject-matter experts, and turn complex information into clear, scalable learning experiences.
- Strong project management, organizational, communication, facilitation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to operate independently, influence senior stakeholders, and establish company-wide learning standards.
- Strong executive and stakeholder communication skills.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken).
- Availability to work closely with teams operating on U.S. Central Time.

- Background in solar, electrical, HVAC, construction, utilities, telecom, field service, home services, or a comparable operational environment.
- Experience building certification and skills-verification programs.
- Experience supporting multiple locations, markets, or distributed workforces.
- Familiarity with Salesforce, Jira/Notion, Slack, Google Workspace, LMS platforms, and AI-assisted learning tools.
