About the Role: Join our US client on their mission to modernize how independent insurance agencies serve their policyholders. We're looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to join a small, high-impact engineering team and help build the core systems — real-time data processing, intelligent workflows, and platform infrastructure — that power the company's product. This is a systems-first role: you'll spend most of your time designing and building backend services in Go, with occasional involvement in front-end work when it's the fastest path to shipping value. You'll work closely with engineering leadership and collaborate with product teams to help the company scale reliably as it grows.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and build core backend systems in Go that power real-time data processing, workflows, and platform capabilities.
Own the development of high-performance, concurrent services from architecture through production.
Collaborate with engineering leadership to shape system design and surface technical tradeoffs.
Optimize systems for performance, scalability, and reliability under growing transaction volumes.
Establish and maintain strong observability practices — logging, monitoring, and alerting the team can trust in production.
Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across services and infrastructure.
Contribute to front-end work when needed to help ship a feature end-to-end.
Mentor other engineers on systems engineering patterns and code quality best practices.
Communicate clearly with product managers, designers, and engineers about progress, blockers, and technical tradeoffs.
What We're Looking For:
7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 3+ years building production systems in Go.
Strong fundamentals in distributed systems, microservices architecture, and system design at scale (high concurrency, data volume, or transaction throughput).
Solid experience with relational databases (SQL, indexing, query optimization) and API design (REST/gRPC).
A systems-first mindset: your primary identity is backend/infrastructure engineering, with enough front-end comfort (React or similar) to contribute across the stack when it matters.
Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
Experience building or maintaining systems where reliability directly impacts the business — regulated industries (fintech, insurtech) are a plus.
Proven track record working effectively in distributed, remote, or outsourced teams.
Proficient English level, both written and spoken, for daily collaboration with a US-based team.
