About the Company:
Our client is a growing global technology company focused on asset tracking, with operations across Latin America and plans to expand further. They are building a modern, scalable finance organization that combines strong financial controls with practical AI and automation.
About the Role:
We’re looking for a Finance Operations Lead / Controller to own and continuously improve the finance function. This is not a bookkeeping role or a purely strategic CFO position—you will operate between execution and leadership.
You will work closely with the CEO/owner, oversee finance operations across multiple entities and markets, guide finance administrators and bookkeepers, identify risks early, and improve processes, controls, and reporting.
You Will:
Own the end-to-end finance operating cycle, including month-end close, reconciliations, AP/AR, billing, cash management, journal entries, accruals, and financial reporting.
Review P&Ls, balance sheets, bank reconciliations, and management reports to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Build and maintain 13-week cash-flow forecasts, budgets, and variance analyses.
Supervise, coach, and review the work of finance administrators and bookkeepers.
Establish clear finance procedures, controls, checklists, and escalation processes.
Partner directly with the CEO/owner and communicate financial risks, gaps, and recommendations clearly.
Support operations across multiple countries, entities, currencies, and external accounting or tax partners.
Identify unusual transactions, reporting inconsistencies, compliance risks, and process failures.
Use AI, automation, spreadsheets, scripts, APIs, and internal tools to reduce manual work and surface exceptions faster.
Improve workflows such as reconciliations, AR aging, collections, billing checks, cash-flow monitoring, expense review, and close processes.
About You:
Your Background:
7+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience.
Experience as a Financial Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, Finance Manager, Finance Operations Lead, or similar.
CPA required; CA, ACCA, or CMA certifications are highly valued.
Strong hands-on knowledge of AP/AR, bank reconciliations, month-end close, financial reporting, accruals, cash flow, and balance-sheet reviews.
Experience managing or reviewing the work of accounting staff, bookkeepers, or finance administrators.
Strong financial judgment and the ability to recognize when numbers, assumptions, or reports do not make sense.
Experience supporting North American or international businesses.
Strong professional English communication skills.
Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills.
Experience with QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite, or similar accounting systems.
Comfortable working directly with senior leadership and handling sensitive financial information.
Reliable, mature, highly accountable, and proactive in following issues through to resolution.
Critical thinker and problem solver who can challenge assumptions respectfully.
AI & Automation Experience:
Practical experience using AI and automation in finance operations is essential.
Able to demonstrate finance workflows, tools, dashboards, automations, or reporting improvements you have personally built.
Familiar with tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, AI coding tools, APIs, scripts, Zapier, Make, or similar platforms.
Understands what can be automated safely and what requires human judgment, review, controls, and documentation.
Nice to Have:
Experience supporting multiple entities, countries, currencies, or cross-border finance operations.
Familiarity with Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, or broader LATAM finance environments.
Experience with audit support, external accountants, tax advisors, and compliance requirements.
Experience improving finance processes in a high-growth or technology-driven company.
Experience building AI-assisted reconciliation, reporting, AR/collections, anomaly detection, or finance knowledge workflows.
