About the Company:
Our client is a metals trading company supporting international physical commodity transactions. The company works across trading, finance, systems, suppliers, customers, warehouses, brokers, and shipping providers to execute shipments efficiently and accurately.
About the Role:
We’re looking for a Junior Metals Operator to support contract execution from start to finish. You’ll coordinate logistics, maintain accurate documentation, support customs clearance, invoicing, pricing, and system updates, while partnering closely with Traders, Finance, and Systems teams.
This role is ideal for someone detail-oriented, organized, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple priorities. You will work alongside a more senior Operator, who will provide mentorship and support.
You Will:
Manage daily communication with suppliers, receivers, and service providers.
Prepare physical commodity shipments for customers and suppliers.
Prepare and handle shipping documentation.
Coordinate customs clearance for imports and exports.
Issue and receive releases with international warehouses.
Prepare invoices according to payment terms, including holding certificates, CAD, bank collections, and open account.
Support cargo execution while maintaining payment terms and bank-reporting requirements in coordination with Finance.
Apply Incoterms knowledge when preparing and organizing shipments.
Declare pricing and quotational periods in line with contract requirements.
Coordinate shipments by vessel, truck, rail, and multimodal transportation.
Work directly with shipping lines, warehouses, owners, and brokers.
Obtain freight quotes and vendor services.
Reconcile inventory using warehouse stock reports and Balsamo.
Maintain credit lines, shipping lists, debtor reports, and exposure records.
Create supplier and customer contracts promptly after business creation.
Maintain accurate information in Balsamo.
About You:
Your Background:
1+ years of logistics experience within a trading company.
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Logistics, or a related field.
Understanding of shipping logistics, geography, and efficient shipment execution.
Experience working in finance or business environments.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
Ability to learn new software and systems quickly.
Excellent communication skills and comfort working cross-functionally.
Nice to Have:
Familiarity with Balsamo or similar logistics systems.
Experience with international imports, exports, and customs clearance.
Knowledge of Incoterms, letters of credit, CAD, bank collections, and other trade-finance processes.
Experience coordinating multimodal shipments.
