Technical Account Manager – Utility-Scale Solar & BESS
At Near, we help top talent in Latin America find remote roles with US companies. Our mission is to create better lives by fostering a remote work culture that transcends borders.
Our client is a growing technology company focused on software solutions for the renewable energy industry. Its products support utility-scale solar and battery energy storage projects, helping engineering teams improve workflows, make better technical decisions, and manage complex project requirements more efficiently.
The company works closely with renewable energy professionals across engineering, development, and project delivery, with a strong focus on practical technical solutions and customer impact.
Join our US client in helping renewable energy teams work more efficiently through innovative software for utility-scale solar and battery storage projects.
We are looking for an engineering-first Technical Account Manager with hands-on experience in utility-scale solar design and engineering. In this role, you will work directly with customers to understand their engineering workflows, translate project needs into software use cases, provide technical guidance, and solve complex product-related challenges.
This is a highly technical, customer-facing position where your engineering judgment and ability to communicate clearly with different stakeholders will be essential. You will work closely with customers and internal teams to drive successful onboarding, adoption, and long-term value.
Note: This is a remote, contractor role.
Partner with customers to understand their utility-scale solar and energy storage engineering workflows, requirements, and challenges.
Translate customer engineering needs into practical software use cases and workflow improvements.
Lead technical onboarding and enablement sessions, helping customers effectively adopt and use the platform.
Troubleshoot technical issues by identifying whether they are related to product behavior, user workflows, data, configuration, or potential defects.
Research and resolve technical questions independently, escalating issues with clear context when needed.
Develop and maintain account plans, stakeholder maps, risks, key decisions, and next steps for assigned customers.
Monitor customer health and identify adoption risks, technical blockers, and opportunities to improve customer outcomes.
Communicate engineering assumptions, tradeoffs, workflows, and technical decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Collaborate with internal engineering, product, support, and commercial teams to address customer needs and provide relevant product feedback.
Create and contribute to technical documentation, training materials, and customer enablement resources.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering field.
2+ years of hands-on engineering or design experience in utility-scale solar.
Direct engineering or design experience on at least one utility-scale ground-mount solar project over 20 MWdc. Exceptional candidates with smaller-project experience may also be considered.
Strong practical experience in at least one of the following areas:
Electrical systems, system architecture, or collection systems.
Site layout and equipment/design optimization.
Civil design, grading, drainage, earthwork, or site constraints.
Tracker, racking, foundation, or structural engineering.
Mechanical engineering, constructability, or equipment integration.
Energy modeling and design-to-performance.
Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) or solar-plus-storage.
Strong understanding of how different engineering disciplines interact within utility-scale solar projects.
Experience with solar engineering and design software such as PVCase, RatedPower, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, PVSyst, Helioscope, or comparable tools.
Ability to explain engineering assumptions, tradeoffs, and technical decisions clearly.
Strong technical problem-solving and research skills.
Excellent communication skills and confidence working with engineers, executives, and non-technical stakeholders.
Strong organization, attention to detail, ownership, and follow-through.
Ability to manage multiple customer workstreams and priorities independently.
Professional proficiency in English.
