Staff Accountant
Location: Remote
Tech Stack: QuickBooks Online, Excel/Google Sheets
Role Summary
Manage full-cycle accounting to maintain accurate books, ensure timely payments to creators and vendors, and support financial process improvements. Provide financial reporting and collaborate directly with ownership to optimize accounting operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Own day-to-day bookkeeping: AP, AR, bank and credit card reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance in QuickBooks Online
- Generate and send invoices tied to influencer agreements; track deliverables against payment triggers
- Manage accounts receivable and follow up on aging invoices with net-30 and net-60 terms
- Calculate and process talent payouts including commission splits and revenue shares
- Administer 1099 contractor onboarding, payments, and year-end 1099-NEC filing
- Perform month-end close activities: accruals, prepaid amortization, journal entries, and reconciliations
- Prepare monthly financial statements and variance analysis for ownership
- Maintain deal- and campaign-level revenue tracking to monitor profitability
- Support CPA with year-end workpapers and schedules
- Track business expenses and vendor spend; flag anomalies
- Document and improve internal accounting processes and controls
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 2+ years of full-cycle accounting or staff accountant experience
- Proficient in QuickBooks Online
- Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, basic modeling)
- Working knowledge of GAAP and accrual accounting
- High accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to manage deadlines independently
- Clear, professional written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in media, entertainment, advertising, talent management, or creator/influencer businesses
- Familiarity with revenue-share, commission, or royalty accounting
- Experience with contractor payroll and 1099 compliance
- Exposure to Notion, Bill.com, Ramp/Brex, Gusto, or similar tools
- CPA, CPA candidate, or pursuing licensure
