About the Company:
Our client is an innovative clean-energy company focused on direct lithium extraction. Their technology converts lithium-rich brine into battery-grade lithium in less than a week, compared with conventional processes that can take up to 18 months. The company is helping advance more efficient access to lithium, a critical material for clean-energy applications.
About the Role:
We’re looking for a Staff Accountant with Accounts Payable experience to support and own key accounts payable processes while bringing a strong general-ledger mindset. This is not a traditional invoice-processing role: you will investigate and understand the full operational context behind each invoice, ensuring transactions are correctly coded, supported, and ready for review.
You’ll work closely with the Assistant Controller, CFO, Controller, and internal stakeholders in a fast-paced, high-accountability startup environment.
You Will:
Process and review accounts payable invoices using Ramp.
Code invoices accurately and maintain strong supporting documentation.
Research the full operational context behind invoices and follow up with internal teams when needed.
Apply general ledger knowledge when reviewing invoices and transactions.
Support bank reconciliations and broader accounting processes as needed.
Use QuickBooks Online for ledger research and accounting workflows.
Leverage AI-enabled tools, including Claude, to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Collaborate closely with the accounting and finance team in a transparent, knowledge-sharing environment.
Maintain a high level of attention to detail and be prepared to explain transaction background when requested.
Take ownership of your work while working in a dynamic, evolving environment.
About You:
Your Background:
Strong hands-on accounts payable experience.
Solid general ledger knowledge and accounting fundamentals.
Experience reviewing, coding, and researching invoices.
Comfortable working in a startup or similarly fast-paced environment where responsibilities may span multiple accounting areas.
Experience with Ramp and QuickBooks Online, or the ability to learn these tools quickly.
Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
Highly curious, detail-oriented, and proactive.
Comfortable asking questions and following up to understand the full story behind transactions.
Able to perform well under high expectations while maintaining excellent work quality.
Collaborative, transparent, and willing to share knowledge with the team.
Nice to Have:
Experience with NetSuite or Microsoft Dynamics 365.
Experience supporting bank reconciliations and financial statement preparation.
Experience in clean energy, mining, manufacturing, or another operationally complex industry.
Interest in growing into broader accounting responsibilities over time.
Experience using AI tools in finance or accounting workflows.
Compensation & Benefits:
Compensation: $1,500–$3,500 USD/month
Remote, full-time contractor role.
Core hours aligned with 8:00 AM–5:00 PM Central Time, with some flexibility.
Training, mentorship, and ongoing support from the accounting team.
Exposure to a growing clean-energy company with potential future career-growth opportunities.
