Our client is a U.S.-based healthcare services organization supporting medically and socially vulnerable individuals through community-based care programs.
The organization works closely with hospitals, healthcare providers, health plans, and community partners to help eligible individuals access appropriate services while maintaining a responsive and efficient admissions process.
We are looking for an Admissions & Referrals Specialist to manage incoming healthcare referrals from initial contact through screening, follow-up, and handoff.
This is a high-volume, fast-paced role for someone comfortable reviewing medical information, communicating with healthcare professionals, managing multiple referrals at once, and taking ownership of follow-up.
The ideal candidate combines empathy with urgency. You should enjoy helping people while also being able to keep conversations focused, move referrals forward, and ensure opportunities do not get lost.
Receive, review, and process incoming referrals from phone, email, fax, and other referral channels.
Review medical, demographic, insurance, and referral documentation to identify missing information and determine next steps.
Conduct initial screening against established program criteria and escalate clinical or complex situations when appropriate.
Follow up consistently with hospitals, providers, referral partners, and internal teams to keep referrals moving toward a final disposition.
Maintain accurate referral records, statuses, and documentation while helping the organization maintain strong program occupancy.
Communicate clearly and professionally with healthcare professionals, prospective clients, and community partners.
Manage a high-volume workflow while balancing new referrals with outstanding follow-ups and pending cases.
Build familiarity and trust with recurring referral sources and provide a responsive, reliable experience.
2+ years of experience in healthcare admissions, patient intake, referrals, care coordination, or a closely related healthcare role.
Experience reviewing and interpreting medical or healthcare documentation in a non-clinical environment.
Advanced English with strong verbal communication and a confident, professional phone presence.
Strong organization and follow-through, with the ability to manage a high volume of referrals, calls, and pending items simultaneously.
Strong judgment and ownership, with the ability to independently assess routine situations and recognize when escalation is required.
Previous experience supporting U.S.-based healthcare organizations.
Experience with insurance eligibility, authorizations, Medicaid/Medi-Cal, or payer requirements.
Experience working with hospitals, behavioral health providers, post-acute care, or community health organizations.
Previous sales, business development, or relationship-management experience.
Familiarity with EHR, referral-management, CRM systems, or Excel-based tracking tools.
Compensation: $2,000–$2,600 USD per month, depending on experience and seniority.
100% remote.
Full-time independent contractor engagement.
