About the Company:
Our client is an early-stage construction finance software company building COOPr, a platform that helps industrial subcontractors improve billing workflows and get paid more accurately and efficiently. The product supports office teams as well as field users, including technicians and electricians, and the company is focused on building systems that scale across multiple customers while improving how construction data is captured and turned into action.
About the Role:
We’re looking for a Product Engineer who combines strong engineering fundamentals with product thinking and ownership. You’ll ship features end-to-end, help shape product direction, support users through bug triage and fixes, and contribute to backend architecture and AI-related workflows. This role works closely with the CEO and a small engineering team, so it requires someone proactive, opinionated, thoughtful about tradeoffs, and comfortable operating with high ownership in an early-stage environment.
You Will:
Build and ship features across backend, frontend, and data layers with strong end-to-end ownership.
Contribute to product direction rather than only executing predefined tasks.
Help design systems for scale, including customer data relationships, architecture decisions, and system design thinking.
Spend part of the day handling bug triage, understanding user issues, and owning fixes independently.
Translate technical issues for non-technical users and help troubleshoot user-reported problems.
Work on AI data pipelines and related infrastructure, with emphasis on practical, current production experience.
Review work critically, including identifying weak architecture, poor assumptions, or issues in implementation.
About You:
Your Background:
4+ years of experience is the baseline, though the team may target more senior candidates where needed for architecture depth.
Strong full-stack engineering background with a backend lean; ideal split is roughly 75–80% backend.
Strong experience with Node.js, Express, and TypeScript.
Strong system design skills and experience architecting software for scale; multi-tenant SaaS experience is valuable, but equivalent scale-oriented architecture experience is acceptable.
Able to take ownership over architecture decisions, edge cases, user intent, and the full development lifecycle.
Comfortable explaining complex technical concepts clearly across a mixed-language team.
Strong written and spoken English proficiency required.
Product-minded and opinionated — not someone who just executes tickets.
High ownership and strong judgment in a small-team, early-stage environment.
Comfortable talking to users when needed, especially to understand bugs and real-world use cases.
Able to work independently and push work forward without heavy structure.
Nice to Have:
Spanish fluency or at least some conversational ability; native-level Spanish is not required.
Experience working with construction, field operations, or low-tech-literacy end users.
Hands-on experience with AI pipelines, structuring data for AI tools, and recent practical exposure to the rapidly evolving AI stack.
Experience with cloud services beyond specific vendors; AWS experience can transfer well to GCP.
More senior candidates with stronger architecture experience may be preferred over strictly mid-level candidates.
Compensation & Benefits:
Compensation: $4,500–$6,500 USD/month
Contractor model.
