About the Role:
We’re looking for a Property Accountant who brings strong operational accounting experience and direct exposure to vacation rental property management systems. You’ll own and improve accounting workflows across assigned entities, support standardization efforts, and act as a key bridge between field operations and corporate accounting. This role requires someone hands-on, reliable, proactive, and comfortable stepping into a fast-moving environment with ambiguity and evolving processes.
You Will:
- Own accounting operations within property management accounting systems for assigned companies
- Manage bank reconciliations, general ledger activity, owner chargebacks, owner statement generation, and payment processing
- Support occupancy tax collection and remittance procedures
- Own the monthly close process within the relevant property management systems
- Standardize accounting processes, controls, and procedures across multiple entities
- Harmonize charts of accounts and improve reporting consistency
- Review monthly financial reports, identify significant fluctuations, and surface potential accruals or adjusting entries
- Serve as the primary accounting resource for assigned property management companies
- Support integration of accounting data into NetSuite through direct integrations or manual uploads
- Assist with post-acquisition financial integration and adoption of corporate accounting tools
- Maintain trust accounting processes and reconciliation procedures
- Partner cross-functionally with operations, accounting, and internal technology teams
- Provide support for audit, tax, and revenue-related requests
- Help drive accountability, process improvement, and scalable accounting operations
About You:
Your Background:
- Experience in property accounting, operational accounting, or accounting within property management or hospitality environments
- Direct hands-on experience with vacation rental property management accounting systems such as:
- Strong knowledge of accounting controls, reconciliations, monthly close, and accounting best practices
- Experience managing owner statements, trust accounting workflows, and related property-level accounting processes
- Ability to work independently and contribute with minimal training
- Strong Excel skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally in a remote environment
- Comfortable in ambiguous, fast-changing, high-growth environments
- Detail-oriented, accountable, and execution-focused
- Strong service mindset and ability to partner effectively with field teams and non-accounting stakeholders
Nice to Have:
- AppFolio experience
- NetSuite experience
- Vacation rental industry experience
- Hospitality or broader property management background
- Private equity-backed, roll-up, or multi-entity business experience
- M&A integration or post-acquisition accounting experience
- Change management or financial transformation experience
- CPA
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience
- Public accounting or startup background
