Growth Marketing Manager
Remote (Latin America-based)
Compensation: $3,000–$5,000 USD/month
Full-time, 9–5 PST, Contractor.
Tech Stack: Klaviyo or similar email/SMS marketing platforms, loyalty programs, Google Ads, Google Shopping, Google Merchant Center, Meta Ads, AI tools
At Near, we connect top talent in Latin America with exciting remote opportunities at U.S.-based companies. Our mission is to create better lives by fostering a remote work culture that transcends borders.
About the Company
James Oro makes eyewear and jewelry for men, out of Los Angeles, rooted in hip-hop and LA street culture. They sell directly on Shopify Plus, Amazon, and through social storefronts. The business is profitable, growing, and small enough that one person's work is visible in the numbers within a week.
They’re not an agency-run brand. Media buying, retention, CRO, and creative strategy all happen in-house.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Growth Marketing Manager who is strong in retention marketing and can also support paid search strategy. You’ll own and improve retention initiatives across email, SMS, loyalty, flows, and campaigns, while collaborating closely with the marketing manager, designers, and the broader marketing function. This role requires someone who is proactive, disciplined, adaptable, and comfortable operating as a generalist in a small team where priorities evolve and impact is highly visible.
What you'll own
Retention and lifecycle
Klaviyo (email) and Postscript (SMS), plus the loyalty and referral side. Our organic monthly repurchase baseline is low single digits, and most lifetime repurchases currently happen during promotional events. Your mandate is to increase our LTV: flow architecture, segmentation, product-led cross-sell from eyewear into jewelry, and lifecycle programming aimed at the months-5-through-17 window where we see the most upside.
Paid search, shopping, and the Google side of the business
Search, Shopping, PMax, Demand Gen, and YouTube. Brand vs. non-brand structure and budget splits. Merchant Center and product feed health across a catalog with heavy variant depth (frames by color and lens, jewelry by length and stone). Microsoft Ads and Amazon Ads sit here too. You'll decide what to consolidate, what to break out, and where PMax is quietly eating our brand traffic.
Paid social
Meta is our largest spend today and the Head of Growth buys it directly. You won't own this channel to start, but you should be comfortable enough with it to understand what's happening in the accounts and to help drive strategy alongside our part-time Marketing Manager, and to step in if the Head of Growth is out. If media buying at scale turns out to be your strongest edge, there's a real path to owning paid social outright and handing off search or retention to a future report. Either direction is a legitimate path here — tell us honestly which one you are.
Measurement, attribution, and reporting
Post-purchase survey data, GA4, Shopify UTM journeys, Supermetrics dashboards, and server-side/first-party tracking through Aimerce. You'll run the weekly performance readout for the team and the founder — pacing, drivers, risks, decisions needed and you'll be the first person to notice when a channel turns before the monthly report says so. The infrastructure is built out here; you just need to take it over.
Promotional calendar execution
We run a handful of large promotional moments a year (BOGO, holiday, GWP mechanics). You’ll work in conjunction with our Marketing Manager to prepare for them and suggest campaigns and seasonal moments.

About You:
Your Background
4–6 years in performance or growth marketing, with meaningful time at a DTC or e-commerce brand doing $5M+ (agency background is fine if you've also sat in-house)
Hands-on Google Ads ownership — you've built and restructured accounts yourself, not just reviewed an agency's deck. Comfortable with Shopping feeds and Merchant Center diagnostics
Real retention or lifecycle experience in Klaviyo or a comparable ESP: segmentation, flow architecture, and holdout-tested claims about incremental revenue
Fluent in GA4 and Shopify analytics, and skeptical about attribution in a way you can explain
A/B testing discipline: hypothesis, sample size, honest read, decision
Clear written & verbal communication
A demonstrable habit of using AI tools in your actual workflow — analysis, modeling, drafting, QA. Be ready to walk us through something specific you built
Nice to Have:
SMS marketing (Postscript, Attentive, or similar)
CRO tooling (Intelligems, Shopify A/B testing, Clarity or similar session analytics)
SQL, or comfort in Supermetrics / Looker Studio building your own reporting
Managed someone before, or been the de facto senior person on a small team
Apparel, accessories, jewelry, or eyewear — bonus if you understand a variant-heavy catalog
Genuine interest in the culture the brand comes from
