We are looking for a detail-oriented Billing Specialist to support the organization's billing operations and serve as the primary point of contact for patients, providers, and insurance companies regarding billing inquiries.
The ideal candidate has previous experience in medical or behavioral health billing, enjoys working with structured processes, and can effectively manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and compliance. This role requires strong communication skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently during EST business hours.
Maintain and update billing trackers with a high level of accuracy using Google Sheets.
Respond to billing-related phone calls and emails from patients, insurance providers, and internal stakeholders.
Verify patient insurance eligibility and explain coverage and benefits.
Submit and track prior authorizations with insurance payers.
Follow up on outstanding claims and resolve billing issues with insurance companies.
Review billing documentation for accuracy and maintain HIPAA-compliant records.
Support administrative tasks including scheduling, data entry, and documentation updates.
Record billing activities and updates within internal systems.
Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to ensure efficient billing workflows.
Previous experience in behavioral health billing or medical billing.
Strong understanding of insurance verification, benefits, and billing processes.
Experience working with prior authorizations and insurance claims.
Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and healthcare compliance standards.
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Proficiency with Google Workspace, especially Google Sheets.
Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
Experience working with behavioral health providers or mental health practices.
Experience handling data cleanup or data migration projects.
Familiarity with CRM or practice management systems such as GHL.
Experience documenting and improving operational processes.
