At Near, we connect talented professionals in Latin America with meaningful remote opportunities at U.S.-based companies. Our mission is to create better lives by helping candidates build long-term international careers.
Our client is a mission-driven U.S. law firm that supports senior citizens, veterans, individuals with disabilities, and people experiencing financial hardship.
The firm helps clients understand their rights and navigate stressful legal and financial situations with dignity, patience, and compassion. The organization operates fully remotely and serves clients across the United States.
We are looking for a Legal Assistant to support the firm’s client communication, intake, data-entry, and administrative processes.
This is a meaningful opportunity for someone who enjoys helping others. You will often speak with clients who feel worried, confused, or overwhelmed, and your ability to listen patiently and communicate clearly will have a direct impact on their experience.
The role combines incoming calls, callbacks, client intake, email support, data entry, and administrative follow-up. The firm will provide extensive training, templates, and established processes.
Previous legal experience is helpful but not required. Candidates from customer service, social services, healthcare, insurance, financial services, or similar client-facing environments may also be a strong fit.
Answer incoming calls and provide patient and compassionate support to prospective and existing clients.
Conduct client intake and accurately collect personal, financial, and case-related information.
Complete daily follow-up lists, return callbacks, and respond to emails using established templates.
Enter and maintain accurate client information in CRM and file-management systems.
Explain general processes clearly and escalate legal or sensitive questions when necessary.
Manage calls, emails, data entry, and administrative tasks throughout the day.
Protect confidential information and follow internal procedures.
Adapt to new tools, systems, and workflow improvements.
At least 1 year of experience in customer service, client intake, administrative support, data entry, or a similar role.
Advanced English proficiency with clear and easy-to-understand verbal communication.
Strong empathy, patience, and professionalism when assisting people in stressful situations.
Excellent organization, multitasking, time-management, and attention-to-detail skills.
Comfortable using CRMs, email platforms, online forms, and digital file-management systems.
Reliable, adaptable, and able to learn new processes quickly in a remote environment.
Previous experience in legal support, legal intake, or a U.S. law firm.
Experience in a high-volume phone or client-intake environment.
Exposure to consumer debt, mortgage services, financial hardship, or consumer protection.
Background in social services, healthcare, insurance, or disability services.
Familiarity with legal documents, court notices, or case-management systems.
Monthly compensation of USD 2,000–2,500, depending on experience and seniority.
Full-time position, 40 hours per week.
Schedule aligned with U.S. business hours.
100% remote work from Latin America.
Independent contractor arrangement.
10 days of accrued paid time off per year, available after the first 90 days.
Paid U.S. holidays.
Extensive training and long-term growth within a mission-driven organization.
This role is ideal for someone who is patient, dependable, and motivated by helping others.
You do not need to know every legal process before joining. What matters most is your willingness to learn, your ability to communicate with kindness and clarity, and your commitment to treating every client with respect.
