Job Description
About Us:
At Near, we help top talent in Latin America find remote roles with US companies. Our mission is to create better lives by fostering a remote work culture that transcends borders.
About Our Client:
Our client is a specialized solutions provider supporting complex, mission-critical operations through custom technology, software, and systems design. They work on highly tailored projects that combine innovation, technical problem-solving, and close collaboration to build tools that improve how the organization operates. With a strong emphasis on practical execution and modern technology, they are investing in scalable internal systems that can drive long-term operational impact.
About the Role:
We're looking for a Senior/Lead Azure Full-Stack Software Engineer who combines deep Microsoft Azure expertise, strong software architecture skills, and hands-on delivery. You will help architect, build, and productionize the Cronos Execution Platform (CXP), an interconnected suite of internal applications and modules spanning Atlas, project management, inventory management, procurement, and future AI-powered capabilities. This is a hands-on technical-lead role: you will establish practical engineering standards and architecture while continuing to write production code and work directly with business leadership.
Note: This is a remote, contractor role.
Key Responsibilities:
Architect and build a secure, maintainable, modular software platform on Microsoft Azure.
Serve as a hands-on technical lead by defining engineering standards, documenting architecture decisions, reviewing code, and writing production code.
Develop and maintain an interconnected suite of CXP applications and modules.
Design scalable Azure SQL databases, schemas, migrations, stored procedures, optimized queries, backup strategies, and recovery processes.
Build secured REST APIs, OpenAPI contracts, backend services, and background processing using C#, ASP.NET Core, and .NET.
Develop responsive, accessible front-end applications using Vue 3, TypeScript, and modern web technologies.
Implement Microsoft Entra ID authentication and server-side authorization using OIDC/OAuth, Microsoft Identity Web, role- or policy-based access controls, and Conditional Access integration.
Deploy and operate applications using Azure App Service, Azure Functions, Azure Storage, Azure Key Vault, Azure Service Bus, Azure Monitor, and Application Insights.
Define and maintain cloud infrastructure as code using Bicep or Terraform.
Implement secure CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and/or Azure DevOps.
Build automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests and establish practical quality gates.
Implement secure software-development practices, including code review, secrets management, dependency scanning, audit logging, and OWASP-aligned controls.
Evaluate and integrate AI capabilities for procurement, RFQ processing, proposal generation, inventory management, and operational workflows when business value, security controls, and human-approval requirements are defined.
Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to translate operational needs into reliable software and make pragmatic architecture tradeoffs.
Support production operations through observability, incident troubleshooting, performance tuning, and continuous improvement.
What We’re Looking For:
Required Qualifications
5+ years of professional software development experience.
Demonstrated ownership of at least one production business application from architecture and implementation through deployment and operational support.
Strong Microsoft Azure application-development experience.
Expertise with C#, ASP.NET Core, .NET, secured REST API development, and OpenAPI.
Experience with Azure SQL Database design, schema migrations, optimization, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and data integrity.
Experience with Vue 3, TypeScript, responsive UI development, and accessible web-development practices.
Experience with Azure App Service, Azure Functions, Azure Storage, Azure Key Vault, Azure Service Bus, Azure Monitor, and Application Insights.
Experience implementing Microsoft Entra ID authentication, OIDC/OAuth, Microsoft Identity Web, and server-side role- or policy-based authorization.
Experience with Git, GitHub and/or Azure DevOps, secure CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code using Bicep or Terraform.
Experience designing and maintaining automated unit, integration, and end-to-end test suites.
Working knowledge of secure software-development practices, OWASP risks, secrets management, dependency scanning, and application audit logging.
Strong written and verbal English communication skills, including the ability to document architecture and explain technical tradeoffs to business stakeholders.
Self-motivated and comfortable building software in a fast-moving environment with evolving requirements.
Experience using AI-assisted development tools responsibly while independently validating generated code, tests, and technical decisions.
Experience with React or another modern front-end framework in addition to Vue.
Experience integrating Azure OpenAI or comparable model APIs into enterprise applications, including retrieval-augmented generation, tool calling, evaluation, data protection, prompt-injection defenses, monitoring, and human-approval controls.
Docker and containerized development.
Experience designing asynchronous or event-driven workflows using Azure Service Bus or comparable messaging technology.
Experience making pragmatic tradeoffs between modular monoliths and distributed systems while avoiding unnecessary operational complexity.
Experience with ERP, CRM, procurement, warehouse, financial, or enterprise workflow systems.
Experience building highly customized internal business software.
Knowledge of government-contracting business processes.
