At Near, we help top talent in Latin America find remote roles with US companies. Our mission is to create better lives by fostering a remote work culture that transcends borders.
About Our Client
Our client is a fast-growing U.S.-based home services and energy company building a best-in-class fulfillment organization across multiple markets and trades. The company operates in a fast-paced field environment where strong operational execution, problem-solving, and coordination are critical to delivering high-quality installations and reliable service.
About the Role
We're looking for a Field Operations Engineer to own the successful execution of scheduled residential installations through completion, inspection, quality approval, and final closeout.
This is not a traditional desk-based project management role. You'll work directly with electricians, installers, homeowners, vendors, and internal field teams throughout the day. You'll solve problems in real time, review installation quality, coordinate completion work, manage inspections and corrections, and ensure issues are fully resolved.
The ideal candidate is a strong problem-solver and high-output operator who takes ownership, works well with field teams and skilled trades, and can manage multiple active issues without losing track of details.
What You'll Do
- Support multiple active field crews and residential installations throughout the day.
- Troubleshoot installation issues directly with electricians, installers, and field teams.
- Ensure crews have the information, resources, and support needed for successful installations.
- Review job-site photos and documentation to identify quality issues before crews leave the property whenever possible.
- Identify incomplete work and create clear completion scopes.
- Coordinate completion visits based on homeowner availability and field capacity.
- Coordinate city inspections, failed-inspection corrections, and reinspections.
- Manage lender and quality-review corrections through final approval.
- Resolve installation-related homeowner concerns, property damage, cleanup issues, and other field escalations.
- Coordinate across field operations, customers, vendors, and internal departments to keep jobs moving.
- Track open issues and maintain ownership until they are fully resolved.
- Identify recurring operational and quality issues and help improve processes to prevent them.
- Communicate job status, risks, issues, and required actions to relevant stakeholders.
- Help ensure installations move efficiently from scheduled work through final closeout.
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of experience in Field Service, Field Operations, Construction, Home Services, Technical Operations, or a similar environment.
- Previous experience working directly with technicians, electricians, installers, contractors, or skilled trades.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Proven ability to take ownership and independently drive issues through resolution.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
- Ability to manage multiple active installations, issues, and priorities simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills and confidence working with homeowners, field teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
- Ability to make practical decisions and find solutions without waiting for perfect information.
- Strong sense of accountability and commitment to quality.
- Comfortable handling escalations and resolving issues under pressure.
Preferred Background
- Experience in HVAC, electrical, construction, telecommunications, fiber, roofing, restoration, field service, home services, or other technician-driven operations.
- Experience coordinating residential installations or field service work.
- Experience working directly with electricians, technicians, installers, or contractors.
- Experience with inspections, permitting, quality reviews, or completion work.
- Experience handling homeowner or customer escalations.
- Experience coordinating field crews, vendors, and multiple active jobs.
- Experience with solar or energy operations is a plus, but not required.
What’s in It for You?
- Competitive compensation.
- 100% remote work as an independent contractor.
- Opportunity to join a fast-growing U.S.-based home services and energy company.
- Direct ownership of field execution, quality, and service delivery.
- Opportunity to work closely with field teams, skilled trades, customers, and internal operations.
- Opportunity to take on increasing leadership responsibility as the company grows.
- Collaborative and fast-paced environment with significant operational impact.
Working Hours: Monday–Friday, based on U.S. field operations needs. The role may require flexibility to support active installations, inspections, homeowner availability, and operational escalations.
