At Near
At Near, we connect top talent in Latin America with exciting remote opportunities at U.S.-based companies. Our mission is to create better lives by fostering a remote work culture that transcends borders.
About the Company:
Our client, Sunrise Education Group, is a fast-growing family of exceptional early childhood schools serving children from 6 weeks through kindergarten. Operating over 10 campuses, supporting more than 2,000 children and families, and generating approximately $20M in annual revenue, they create safe, warm, and inspiring learning environments supported by outstanding educators and school leaders.
About the Role:
We’re looking for a hungry, ownership-driven Accounting Manager who combines technical mastery with grit and confidence. You’ll take full control of the accounting function—bringing two outsourced firms' workloads in-house—and collaborate across teams to streamline processes, own the numbers, and scale into a Controller as the company expands from 10 to 50+ schools. This role requires someone who is proactive, solution-oriented, works autonomously with minimal supervision, and takes initiative in the face of white space and ambiguity.
You Will:
Manage and oversee 100% of full-cycle accounting and bookkeeping functions across all school locations.
Post revenue, payroll, bank transactions, and code/reconcile credit card and invoicing activity.
Drive the month-end close process across multiple locations, ensuring clean, audit-ready financial statements.
Serve as the system owner of Ramp and manage vendor onboarding, GL account coding, and NetSuite records.
Monitor for fraudulent invoices, handle vendor inquiries, and maintain high standards of vendor management.
Identify workflow inefficiencies and build scalable accounting processes and AI-assisted automations to support multi-location growth.
About You:
Your Background:
~5 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping, ideally in a multi-entity or multi-location environment.
Deep knowledge of full-cycle accounting, credit card/invoicing reconciliation, and month-end close processes.
Hands-on experience with NetSuite (preferred) or comparable ERP systems (QuickBooks, Sage) and AP platforms (Ramp, Bill.com).
Strong understanding of operational infrastructure, GL account coding, and internal financial controls.
Excellent communication skills — comfortable in a distributed, English-speaking environment with a customer-service mindset.
Hungry, proactive, and self-starting — you take complete ownership of outcomes and solve problems without being asked.
Autonomous and adaptable — comfortable thriving with minimal daily oversight in a fast-growth, high-change environment.
Nice to Have:
Experience managing a multi-location month-end close process.
Background in early childhood education, real estate, or private equity-backed portfolio companies.
Exposure to process automation or AI-assisted accounting workflows.
