About the role
As an Accounting Manager, you will own the month-end close process and work as a consultant with the clients. You will be the main point of contact with your clients so it is imperative that you are an outstanding communicator and have strong business acumen paired with Accounting Expertise. You will be responsible for the timely delivery of weekly and monthly financial reporting and will present financial packages to clients. You will be a direct supervisor for and supported by Bookkeeper(s) and be responsible for the accuracy of the data presented. The most successful candidate will have a strong background in a multi-client environment, e-commerce, and be extremely tech savvy.
RESPONSIBILITIES
This role is solutions-oriented and requires proactive engagement to ensure client success.
- Oversee month-end close and all key accounting-related activities for clients
- Create and/or assist with Cash Flow projections
- Financial Package Creation: Creating Management Reports with Key Metrics
- Accounting Package Creation: Ensuring proper reconciliations for ALL balance sheet
- accounts and trend analysis for both the balance sheet and P&L
- Inventory Management: including reconciling inventory (Physical, Sub to GL), Inventory write off and Obsolescence adjustments, and reviewing individual product costs and ensuring accuracy in inventory software and systems.
- Manage Accounts Receivable processing and aging reports (no collections)
- Manage Accounts Payable processing and aging reports and bill payments in Bill.com (or related software) for clients
- Manage Payroll Processing including recording journal entries and accruals
- Provide ad hoc reports or details as requested
- Manage client communications
- Supervise and train bookkeepers and staff accountants on client and administrative duties
- Maintain clean files and document storage
- Participate in Training as directed
- Contribute to the internal team as a thought partner
Qualifications
- 5+ years of full-cycle accounting experience, including ownership of month-end close, financial reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules.
- 2+ years of experience managing multiple clients simultaneously within an outsourced accounting, consulting, or professional services environment.
- Advanced NetSuite proficiency, with the ability to independently manage complex accounting workflows and hit the ground running with minimal training.
- Strong e-commerce and CPG accounting experience.
- Hands-on inventory accounting experience, including physical inventory reconciliations, subledger-to-GL reconciliations, inventory write-offs, obsolescence adjustments, product costing, and inventory system accuracy.
- Solid understanding of US GAAP and accounting best practices.
- Previous people-management experience, including direct supervision, training, reviewing work, and developing accounting team members.
- Ability to manage between 1 and 3 direct reports, including Staff Accountants and Bookkeepers.
- Exceptional client-facing communication skills, with the ability to present financial packages, explain accounting matters clearly, manage expectations, and act as the primary point of contact for clients.
- Proven ability to operate independently, solve complex accounting issues, flag risks early, and deliver accurate work in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced QuickBooks Online and Excel skills.
- Experience reconciling e-commerce and payment platforms such as Shopify, Amazon, PayPal, Stripe, and Bill.com.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
- Availability to begin the position immediately or within a short notice period.
Working Hours
- From Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 6 PM EST.
