At Near, we connect top talent in Latin America with exciting remote opportunities at U.S.-based companies. Our mission is to create better lives by fostering a remote work culture that transcends borders.
Our client is a growing fintech software company building tools for financial advisors and wealth management firms. Their engineering team is expanding to support new products, integrations, and scale across a growing customer base.
We’re looking for a Backend Engineer with strong backend depth and product-minded execution. You’ll join an existing backend team working across product pods and integrations, helping build reliable backend systems, APIs, and data flows that power a growing fintech platform. This role requires someone who is technically strong, comfortable operating in production environments, and able to contribute within a scaling engineering organization.
Build and maintain backend systems and integrations with custodians, CRMs, and financial data providers.
Develop and improve RESTful APIs with a strong focus on performance, security, and scalability.
Work with relational and non-relational databases to support product and data needs.
Monitor integrations and backend workflows, debug issues, and improve reliability.
Collaborate with frontend, platform, and AI teams on backend architecture and execution.
Participate in code reviews and maintain high engineering standards.
Contribute to product quality and ensure backend implementations perform well in production.
Strong experience with Django, Python, and SQL — these were explicitly named as the key non-negotiables on the call.
Strong experience building web applications and REST APIs in production.
Experience with cloud infrastructure and backend systems at scale.
Comfort working as part of an existing backend team, not as a solo owner.
Ability to work across multiple products or product pods as needed.
Strong communication and collaboration skills in team-based software development.
Strong English communication skills.
Experience in a high-growth company is a key requirement. Candidates should come from software product companies that have gone through scaling and growing structure.
Experience with Docker and AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, and RDS.
Experience with monitoring dashboards and tools such as Kibana, Grafana, or similar.
Experience with Agile methodologies and documentation tools like Confluence or Notion.
Production experience supporting software used by 1000+ users or companies.
Competitive compensation in USD.
Benefits: U.S. holidays and unlimited PTO.
