At Near, we connect top talent in Latin America with exciting remote opportunities at U.S.-based companies. Our mission is to create better lives by fostering a remote work culture that transcends borders.
About the Company:
Our client is a fast-growing specialty retailer in the gift, greeting card, and fashion space, operating a family of brands and expanding rapidly across the U.S. The business is backed by long-term strategic investors and is in an exciting stage of growth, with new store openings, remodels, and expansion into new markets. They are building a stronger national retail presence and creating meaningful career opportunities along the way.
About the Role:
We’re looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist who combines strong AP fundamentals with excellent communication and problem-solving skills. You’ll handle high-volume invoice processing, three-way matching, discrepancy resolution, and vendor communication while collaborating with buyers, warehouse teams, stores, and finance leadership. This role requires someone who is proactive, detail-oriented, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with frequent fire drills and evolving priorities.
You Will:
Perform three-way match across purchase orders, invoices, and receipts.
Process a high volume of accounts payable transactions in a complex retail environment.
Investigate and resolve pricing, quantity, and receiving discrepancies.
Communicate with buyers, vendors, warehouse teams, stores, and accounting to resolve invoice issues.
Exercise judgment on short-pays, credits, shortages, and vendor-specific situations.
Support weekly check run preparation and help compile payment information for approval.
Reconcile vendor statements and help maintain strong vendor relationships.
Suggest process improvements and bring ideas from prior companies when relevant.
Work independently in a remote setup while staying highly engaged with the team.
About You:
Your Background:
3+ years of accounts payable experience; 3-5 years is ideal.
Strong three-way matching experience is required.
Retail experience is strongly preferred; wholesale or manufacturing experience can also be relevant.
Comfortable working in a high-volume environment with roughly 30,000 invoices per year, hundreds of active vendors, and a large SKU count.
Strong verbal and written English is required. Accent is not a concern; clarity, listening skills, and effective communication are.
Degree is nice to have, but not required.
Stable tenure is preferred over frequent job changes.
Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable working without constant supervision.
Detail-oriented and able to stay focused on repetitive work without losing accuracy.
Strong communicator who is not shy about following up and collaborating cross-functionally.
Adaptable and calm under pressure in a fast-paced, problem-solving-heavy environment.
Nice to Have:
Experience supporting merchandise-heavy or multi-vendor retail operations.
Exposure to vendor-heavy environments with changing products and frequent exceptions.
Ability to travel to the U.S. for onboarding; a valid visa is a plus.
Experience bringing process improvement ideas into established AP workflows.
Compensation & Benefits:
Compensation: $30,000-$35,000 USD/year
Equipment provided: laptop, monitors, and required hardware.
