Responsibilities
- Code bank and credit card transactions daily in QBO, and NetSuite where applicable.
- Reconcile bank, credit card, and payment processor statements, including Shopify, Amazon, PayPal, Stripe, and similar platforms.
- Check client email accounts daily and sort, forward, and process items as needed.
- Prepare the month-end close for assigned clients, including journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules for prepaids, fixed assets, and other accounts.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate and clear reconciling items, with final review from an Accounting Manager or Senior Accounting Manager.
- Manage accounts payable processing and bill payments using Bill.com or similar software.
- Manage accounts receivable processing and aging reports, excluding collections.
- Record payroll journal entries and related accruals, and support payroll processing in Gusto or similar software.
- Assist with sales tax filings and reconciliations using Avalara or similar tools.
- Assemble monthly accounting packages and weekly deliverables, including a first-pass review of trend and variance analysis for the balance sheet and P&L.
- Support inventory reconciliations, including sub-ledger to GL reconciliations, for clients that carry inventory.
- Communicate with clients on day-to-day accounting matters, while the Accounting Manager owns the overall client relationship.
- Provide ad hoc reports or accounting details as requested.
- Maintain clean files and organized document storage.
- Participate in training and contribute to the internal team as a thought partner.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of full-cycle accounting experience, with a strong track record as a staff accountant.
- 1+ year of experience in a multi-client, outsourced accounting, or consulting environment preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred; Associate’s degree plus relevant experience will be considered.
- Advanced QBO and Excel skills required; NetSuite experience is a plus.
- Required experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
- Bill.com and Gusto experience required.
- Experience reconciling e-commerce and payment platforms such as Shopify, Amazon, PayPal, and Stripe is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with sales tax software such as Avalara or similar tools.
- Solid understanding of US GAAP and accounting principles.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain reconciling items.
- Self-driven and proactive, with the ability to manage workload independently, flag issues early, and solve problems.
- Team-oriented and client-centric, with a desire to grow into an Accounting Manager role.
- Ability to prioritize effectively and manage time in a remote work environment.
- Tech-savvy and comfortable learning new systems quickly.
Working Hours
- From Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5 PM.
