Our client is a fast-growing real estate investment and housing management company focused on workforce and employee housing across the United States. They manage a complex portfolio of residential and mixed-use assets structured across multiple legal entities (LLCs) and are scaling their internal finance and accounting infrastructure to support continued growth.
They are hiring a full-time Financial Manager / Controller to take full ownership of accounting operations, financial accuracy, and multi-entity reporting in a highly structured, hands-on environment.
The Financial Manager / Controller will serve as the operational owner of accounting processes across multiple real estate entities. This is a highly hands-on role requiring deep real estate accounting expertise, strong AP execution, and the ability to manage multi-entity financial operations with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate is highly autonomous, detail-oriented, and experienced in private equity real estate or large-scale real estate accounting environments.
• Own full-cycle Accounts Payable processes including invoice review, coding, approvals, and payment workflows
• Ensure accurate GL coding across multiple real estate entities and portfolios
• Manage multi-entity accounting operations across multiple LLCs
• Perform bank reconciliations, intercompany reconciliations, and support month-end close
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes including accruals and adjustments
• Monitor vendor activity and resolve discrepancies in accounting records
• Coordinate with external accounting vendors and validate outputs in QuickBooks
• Maintain accurate financial records and support audit-ready documentation
• Identify and implement process improvements in accounting workflows and controls
• Support financial reporting and monthly reporting packages for leadership
• Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data across systems
• Communicate proactively with vendors, internal stakeholders, and leadership on accounting matters
• Strong experience in real estate accounting (must understand portfolio accounting and multi-entity real estate structures)
• Experience in private equity real estate, real estate investment firms, or large-scale property management environments
• Strong hands-on experience with multi-entity accounting (multiple LLCs / portfolio structures)
• Deep experience in full-cycle Accounts Payable (AP) processes
• Strong ownership mindset with ability to operate independently and take full responsibility for accounting workflows
• Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online
• Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals including accruals, reconciliations, intercompany accounting, and GL classifications
• Experience working in fast-paced, operationally intensive accounting environments
• 8–10+ years of progressive accounting experience in real estate or private equity real estate environments
• Experience in Controller, Senior Accountant, or Finance Manager roles
• Experience with AP / expense management tools such as Ramp, Bill.com, Expensify, Brex, Airbase, or Concur
• Strong private equity real estate experience (one of the two is required)
• $4,500–$5,000 USD per month
• Full-time independent contractor role
• U.S. Eastern Time working hours (approx. 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST)
• Fully remote position (Latin America-based candidates)
• High ownership role with significant autonomy and decision-making responsibility
