Our client is a global commodities trading company operating across metals, raw materials, and other commodity markets. They manage physical commodity shipments worldwide and support a fast-growing international operation with teams across multiple regions. Their Lima office is expanding and plays a key role in supporting global logistics and trade execution.
About the Role:
We’re looking for a Senior Logistics Operator to oversee the execution of physical commodity shipments and support the full logistics chain from contract to delivery. This role is heavily operations-focused and is ideal for someone with strong commodities logistics experience, excellent follow-up skills, and the ability to work accurately under pressure. You’ll work across contracts, invoicing, shipment coordination, system updates, and cross-functional communication to ensure the smooth execution of shipments.
You Will:
Coordinate physical shipments with customers, suppliers, and service providers
Maintain daily written and verbal communication with suppliers, receivers, warehouses, brokers, shipping agents, and logistics partners
Prepare, review, and handle shipping documentation
Manage invoicing processes and maintain payment terms across different structures
Check and arrange payments to suppliers and logistics providers
Issue certificates of insurance in line with Incoterms
Handle claims by coordinating with all relevant parties
Arrange inspections, sampling, assaying, and umpire processes for products
Organize and coordinate shipments by vessel, truck, rail, and multimodal transport
Check and calculate demurrage and dispatch
Maintain shipping lists, debtor reports, exposure sheets, credit lines, and inventory reconciliation
Keep Balsamo accurate and up to date with contractual and shipment data
Read, analyze, and produce Balsamo reports
Perform system-related tasks in Balsamo, including validating deliveries, contracts, counterparties, vessels, and locations
Track invoicing from issuance through payment receipt
Ensure monthly invoicing and shipment timing are correctly reflected in the system
Update FX rates, in-transit shipments, in-warehouse material status, vessel names, BL/container numbers, and shipment locations in Balsamo
Support freight optimization and other ad hoc operational projects
Train and mentor junior team members
About You:
Your Background:
3–5 years of experience in commodity logistics
Experience in a commodities trading environment
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Logistics, or a related field
Strong English communication skills and strong numerical literacy
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel
Experience managing contracts, shipment execution, invoicing, and logistics coordination
Strong organizational skills and excellent follow-up
Ability to work to deadlines and under pressure
Comfortable learning and operating within Balsamo or similar systems
Nice to Have:
Experience in refined metals, raw materials, oil, energy, or similar commodity sectors
Experience mentoring junior operators
Exposure to global, multi-region shipment coordination
Familiarity with Incoterms, LME pricing orders, letters of credit, CAD, bank collections, and open account structures
