About the Company:
Our client is a small, fully remote accounting firm providing monthly bookkeeping and monthly financial reporting in the style of controller and CFO support. They help clients through bookkeeping, budget preparation, cash flow forecasting, and broader controller-level support. With a strong focus on dependable delivery and financial clarity, they support clients with high-quality recurring accounting work behind the scenes.
About the Role:
We’re looking for an Accounting Controller who can take ownership of recurring client deliverables across bookkeeping, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. You’ll work closely with the firm owner and help produce accurate, client-ready financial work with minimal oversight once ramped. This role requires someone who is proactive, dependable, detail-oriented, and confident operating autonomously in a remote environment.
Key responsibilities
• Bookkeeping & close: monthly bookkeeping and transaction entry in QuickBooks (Online and Desktop), including chart of accounts revisions and process write-up.
• Cash flow forecasting: prepare cash flow forecasts, including forecasting current liabilities with draw-down assumptions and forecasting balance sheets.
• Budgeting & reporting: prepare annual budgets and Actuals + Forecast reporting on the P&L; build supporting schedules (expense lines, equipment/depreciation, debt schedules) and plan billable capacity by division.
• Analysis & modeling: build what-if scenarios and scenario analysis (e.g., depreciation decisions and resulting income tax liability, incentive-structure planning) within a 3-way financial statement model.
• Operational data: pull operational driver KPIs from payroll, AP/bill-pay, and receipt-management systems (e.g., payroll hours by division for benchmarking studies).
Must-have qualifications
• Has personally prepared a budget and a cash flow forecast in a prior role.
• Hands-on QuickBooks experience (Online and/or Desktop).
• Strong, comfortable business English (written and verbal).
• Senior-level accounting judgment and the ability to work autonomously once ramped.
Trainable / nice-to-have
The following are not required at hire — we will train the right candidate: our specific operational software and KPI sources, receipt-management and AP bill-pay tools, our chart-of-accounts conventions and reporting formats, and our internal SOPs and review process. Comfort learning new operations software and using AI tools for analytics and reporting is a plus.
