This position is for our client, a leader in the solar panel industry, renowned for their expertise and commitment to excellence. We’re looking for a Solar Design Engineer to join the operations team and provide critical technical support to installation crews in the field. This person will serve as a key point of contact for troubleshooting, optimizing workflows, and ensuring projects meet high-quality standards from start to finish. The ideal candidate brings a strong electrical design foundation, hands-on technical problem-solving skills, and the ability to support field teams in fast-paced environments.
What You’ll Do
- Troubleshoot installation, electrical, or structural issues in real time
- Provide technical guidance to installers and electricians during inspections or complex service calls
- Support field operations by helping resolve technical challenges and improving workflows
- Act as a liaison between field teams and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth communication and execution
- Conduct occasional job site visits to support installations or resolve escalated issues
- Identify patterns in recurring field issues and recommend process improvements
- Support training and development of field personnel by sharing technical expertise
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure projects are completed efficiently and according to quality standards
What We’re Looking For
- 2+ years of experience in engineering, technical support, electrical design, or related roles
- Strong electrical/technical engineering background required
- Design experience is required, ideally within electrical, solar, or construction-related projects
- Hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving experience
- Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate across field crews and internal teams
- Proactive, organized, and comfortable working in fast-paced environments
- Solar industry experience is preferred, but not required if the technical foundation is strong
- Familiarity with electrical and building codes is a plus
- Availability: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM CT
Preferred Background
- Degree in Energy Engineering (preferred), Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
- Experience as an Electrical Designer or in technical system design roles is highly preferred
- Training or coursework in Solar PV systems is highly valued
- NABCEP certification or electrical license is a plus (not required)
- Prior experience in construction, solar, or home improvement industries is an advantage
