This position is for our client, a leader in the solar panel industry, renowned for their expertise and commitment to excellence. We’re looking for a MEP Engineer to support solar installation projects from technical planning through completion. This person will combine electrical/system design, project coordination, material planning, and hands-on technical support to ensure field crews have clear scopes, accurate materials, and the technical guidance needed to execute projects successfully.
Develop detailed scopes of work for solar installations using drawings, site surveys, project plans, and existing electrical and structural conditions
Create and maintain accurate bills of materials (BOMs), ensuring equipment, components, and quantities align with project designs and installation requirements
Review and develop system designs and installation details, identifying and resolving technical gaps before projects reach the field
Coordinate projects from technical planning through installation completion, tracking milestones, responsibilities, schedules, and quality
Troubleshoot electrical, installation, and structural issues and provide clear, practical guidance to field crews
Guide installers and electricians through inspections, service calls, and technically complex situations
Coordinate with field teams and internal stakeholders to communicate technical requirements, scope changes, and design updates
Conduct occasional job site visits to verify conditions, support installations, or resolve escalated technical issues
Identify recurring field issues and recommend improvements to designs, scopes, material planning, and installation workflows
Support field personnel training by explaining technical requirements and sharing troubleshooting best practices
2–5 years of experience in engineering, electrical design, technical support, project management, or related roles
Strong electrical or technical engineering background
Required design experience, ideally in electrical, solar, or construction-related projects
Experience translating system designs, drawings, and site information into clear installation requirements
Ability to develop scopes of work and accurate BOMs based on project requirements
Experience coordinating projects, schedules, responsibilities, and deliverables through completion
Hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving experience
Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate technical work across field crews and internal teams
Proactive, organized, and comfortable managing multiple priorities and time-sensitive field issues
Solar industry experience is preferred, but not required with a strong technical foundation
Familiarity with electrical and building codes is a plus
Availability: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM or 12:00 PM – 9:00 PM Central Time.
Degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline
Experience as an Electrical Designer, Electrical Engineer, Project Engineer, or in a comparable technical system design role
Experience developing installation scopes and BOMs for electrical, solar, or construction projects
Training or coursework in Solar PV systems is highly valued
NABCEP certification or electrical license is a plus (not required)
Prior experience in construction, solar, or home improvement industries is an advantage
