Our client is a fast-growing HR and payroll consulting firm that partners with companies to help them streamline payroll, HR operations, benefits administration, onboarding, and compliance processes through modern HRIS platforms.
About the Role:
Join our client’s team as a Payroll / HR Specialist and play a key role supporting payroll and HR operations for multiple customers across different industries.
In this role, you’ll work closely with payroll consultants and customer teams to ensure payroll is processed accurately and on time while also supporting onboarding, employee lifecycle processes, compliance, and HR operations.
This is a remote, contractor role.
Key Responsibilities:
Process payroll accurately and on time for multiple U.S.-based clients.
Review payroll inputs, taxes, deductions, and employee data to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Support onboarding and offboarding processes within HRIS platforms.
Assist employees with payroll, benefits, and paystub-related inquiries.
Collaborate with internal consultants and client teams to resolve payroll or HR operational issues.
Participate in customer meetings and support ongoing client communication as needed.
Maintain and improve payroll and HR operational workflows and documentation.
Partner with software vendors and support teams to troubleshoot platform or payroll issues.
Contribute to process improvement initiatives and identify opportunities to leverage tools, automation, and AI solutions.
What We’re Looking For:
3+ years of experience in payroll operations, HR operations, managed services, or related environments.
Strong understanding of U.S. payroll processes, taxes, deductions, benefits, and compliance requirements.
Experience working with HRIS/payroll systems such as Rippling, Workday, Gusto, Deel, ADP, UKG, or similar platforms is a plus.
Experience managing multiple payrolls, projects, or client accounts simultaneously.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Comfortable working in startup or fast-changing environments with evolving processes.
Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities.
Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
Strong collaboration and organizational skills.
Experience with Canada payroll is a plus.
Experience using Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, Excel, or Google Sheets.
Familiarity with AI tools and process automation is a plus.
Compensation and Benefits
Schedule: 8:00 - 5:00 PM PST (flexible)
Compensation range: $2,000 – $3,500 USD per month.
Please note that the final salary offer may vary based on the candidate’s seniority, specific skill set, and performance throughout the evaluation and interview process.
