Amazing US-Based MKT company is looking for a Director of Marketing Data Science
Perfect opportunity for an entrepreneurial leader to grow a marketing data science practice into a robust profit engine for a small (approximately 140 employees) but rapidly growing global digital marketing consultancy. This role requires an expert grasp of marketing/advertising/data platforms and the uses of data from these platforms in building custom commercial grade data science solutions (custom attribution, media mix modeling, advanced customer segmentation, lifetime value/churn prediction, customer data platforms, data clean rooms, downstream data-driven media platform activation, etc.) to drive higher marketing ROI.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of:
(a) building, inspiring, and coaching a team of technical professionals in executing complex digital marketing data consulting engagements (for mostly external clients),
(b) leading the realization of commercial value from building data solutions mapped to real-world marketing problems, and
(c) driving profitable business growth by becoming a trusted adviser to external VP+ level marketing business stakeholders and industry partners (agencies and technology companies).
Role Qualifications
Data Consulting & Management
Minimum of 10 combined years of working hands-on with data in a marketing
data science capacity:
- 5+ years working with online and offline customer/marketing data with expert knowledge of advanced quantitative methodologies/solutions used for optimizing common marketing KPIs.
- 5+ years creating data products and solutions from scratch, preferably for external clients in a consulting setting.
- 5+ years leading a technical team of 10+ data scientists and/or machine learning engineers, preferably for external clients in a consulting setting delivering on 6-7 figure dollar value projects.
Experience leading a distributed global team spanning 8+ time
zones a plus:
- 5+ years inspiring, developing, and coaching people managers and multiplying your powers to maximize overall team performance down to the lowest levels of your organization.
- Proven success leading the recruiting and onboarding of 5+ highly effective staff in 12 months or less.
- Proven success in implementing a capacity planning/forecasting process that informs both future headcount requirements and profitability forecasts
- Proven success implementing people management frameworks and consulting engagement delivery processes
- Expert ability in creating and delivering executive-level presentations (using frameworks, visuals, conceptual diagrams, and captivating storytelling devices) in small and large audience settings, preferably or external clients in a consulting setting
Technology & Commercial Solutioning
- Experience solutioning for most of the following marketing business problems: media mix optimization, multi-touch attribution, customer journey mapping (online only and online-offline), customer/audience segmentation, purchase propensity, churn prediction, customer data platform, web/app conversion rate optimization, product recommendation engines, landing page optimization, organic social analytics, cookieless customer behavior extrapolation, self-service performance monitoring (automated dashboards/reports).
- Expert technical understanding of top customer/marketing data platforms/technologies (what do they do? what data lives in them? how and why should they be stitched together to solve marketing problems?): web & app analytics, cloud data environments, CRMs, customer data platforms, ad platforms (DSPs, DMPs), identity resolution, marketing automation systems, data science platforms, data integration SaaS services, and common analytics tools.
- Experience in leading and/or being a key contributor to building more than several commercial-grade data products & data science solutions for marketing stakeholders; expert ability to communicate the details of each solutions architecture and the business objectives that each solution met to non-technical audiences.
- Expert ability to listen, understand, document, and unpack ambiguous business stakeholder objectives, then translating them into conceptual solutions architectures followed by driving a team towards requirements gathering, feasibility assessment, planning, and successful execution.
- Experience with and/or expert knowledge of solutioning with a combination of the following: Google Analytics (preferred), Adobe Omniture, LiveRamp, Google Marketing Platform (preferred), Ads Data Hub, Facebook Ads Manager, Amazon Advertising, Amazon Marketing Cloud, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Segment, Tealium, Funnel, StitchData, Fivetran, SAP, Oracle, MS SQL Server, Google Cloud Platform (preferred), Amazon Web Services, Azure, Snowflake, Databricks, DataRobot, Talkwalker, Brandwatch, Data Studio, Tableau, PowerBI, Domo, Apache Beam, MapReduce, Spark, SQL, Python, Java.
Business Growth
- 2+ years leading the expansion of data science consulting revenue (upsell,
cross-sell, and new business) through expert pre-sales consulting and RFP
response development (in partnership with a sales/business development
team)
- 2+ years building technology partnership relationships with blue chip
companies such as Google, Amazon, Microsoft, etc.
- Passion for evangelizing data science solutions (delivered and fully-baked, MVPs, proof of concepts, and half-baked ideas) in front of audiences of prospective buyers of such solutions (or industry peers) and the ability to
inspire and persuade
- 2+ years with P&L accountability (influencing both top and bottom lines) At least one role where you’ve driven over $1 million in data science consulting revenue YoY
