We are looking for a skilled Senior Accounting Associate to perform a variety of accounting, bookkeeping and financial tasks. Accounting Associate responsibilities include keeping financial records updated, preparing reports and reconciling bank statements, working with excel and spreadsheets. You will primarily work with accounting software programs (Quickbooks Online and Desktop) to process business transactions, and work with accounts payable and receivable, disbursements, expense vouchers and receipts. Must also understand depreciation rules. A successful accounting associate should be familiar with all accounting procedures and have a flair for numbers. Ultimately, a successful Accounting Associate will ensure that the company’s daily accounting functions run accurately and effectively. Must be proactive, self-starter, energetic, enthusiastic and committed. Tax experience will be a plus!
Responsibilities
- Provide accounting and clerical support to the accounting firm
- Type accurately, prepare and maintain accounting documents and records
- Post bank deposits, general ledger postings and reconcile statements accurately
- Reconcile accounts in a timely manner
- Daily enter key data of financial transactions in database
- Provide assistance and support to company personnel
- Research, track and restore accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies
- Inform management and compile reports/summaries on activity areas
- Function in accordance with established standards, procedures and applicable laws
- Constantly update job knowledge
- Exposure and familiarity with Payroll
- Assist with Tax Preparation of Businesses and Individuals (training provided)
Skills
- Proven accounting experience
- Familiarity with bookkeeping and basic accounting procedures
- Competency in MS Office, Excel and accounting software (Quickbooks Online)
- Must work towards Quickbooks Online Certification
- Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and financial reports
- Familiar with the payroll and the compliance process
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Aptitude for numbers
- Ability to perform filing and record keeping tasks
- Data entry and word processing skills
- Well organized & Proactive
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant certification is a plus
