The Staff Accountants handle all of the transactional accounting from our clients, giving support to the bookkeeping team and senior staff. You’ll learn from your peers and seniors and have concrete possibilities of growth within Northstar.

Responsibilities:
- Support month-end and year-end close process
- Verify, allocate, post journal entries and reconcile accounts payable and receivable, payroll procedures, inventory, cash in banks, intercompany transactions, fixed assets, & other financial entries
- Oversee the correctness of transaction records including the general ledger
- Maintains client’s accounts by verifying, allocating and posting transactions
- Manage the books and provide them to senior management when needed
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results
- Process tax forms as needed
- Assist in tax and book audits
- Store and maintain all bookkeeping data
- Create/manage reports for management
- Support in contacting the clients to obtain missing documents and clear up any questions
- Support in coordinating activities with the bookkeeping team
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Advanced Spoken and Written English
- Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Math/Science degree
- 3 to 5+ years’ experience in an accounting/bookkeeping role
- Deep knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting practices
- Flexibility with working hours, this position will require meetings with clients in PST, CST and EST time zones from time to time.
- Advanced Excel
Nice-to-have Requirements:
- Experience in the agriculture industry (crop farming > manufacture > retail)
- CPA qualification
- Experience working in a Big 4 accounting firm
- Knowledge of ERP systems
