The UX Engineer facilitates collaboration between product design & engineering at Bonfire. This individual possesses the skills of a front-end engineer combined with a working knowledge of UX design principles.

They will focus on maintaining and building out UI components in HTML, CSS and Javascript, with the end goal of bridging the gap between the design system in Figma and actual UI components used by frontend & backend engineers. This individual will partner with other engineers, designers, and product managers to define & deliver new features, translate concepts into interactive prototypes, and iterate on interactions, animations, and details to create a delightful user experience. They will also execute experiments in Google Optimize using Javascript.

Essential responsibilities:

• Build out UI components for new features & improvements utilizing semantic and accessible HTML, CSS & Javascript
• Maintain & scale the design system components & style guide in Angular/HTML/CSS
• Collaborate with product designers to ensure a proper design system implementation in code
• Develop & launch experiments written in Javascript via Google Optimize
• Participate in daily standups & weekly Product Discovery meetings
• Perform code tests & collaborate with QA during testing and debugging

Knowledge, skills, & abilities:

• Proficient in HTML, CSS, and Javascript
• Experience with CSS pre-processing tools
• Knowledge of Angular
• Understands product & UX design patterns and principles
• Familiar with semantic markup and W3C accessibility guidelines
• Has empathy for the Bonfire customers
• Writes & speaks fluent English

Minimum qualifications:

• 3+ years experience in front end development
• 1+ years working within an agile software development framework
• Experience implementing a design system for a digital product built using Javascript frameworks such as Angular, React, Vue, etc

Additional desired qualifications:

• Experience in UI, UX, or Product Design
• Familiar with Java
