Role Summary
This is a unique opportunity for a recent accounting graduate to join a values-driven financial services firm. You’ll work closely with senior accountants, gaining hands-on experience with bookkeeping, tax preparation, and client communications in a high-integrity, service-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Complete the following for each client: 
    • Review, prepare and enter client’s information into our computer software.
    • Prepare bank reconciliation.
    • Prepare adjusting journal entries.
    • Maintain records for fixed assets, loan balances and other accounts.
    • Analyze and reconcile accounts as necessary in accordance with U.S. tax regulations.
    • Prepare and review financial statements. (P&L, Balance sheet, etc.)
    • Prepare monthly tax reports.
    • Prepare miscellaneous reports for clients as required.
    • Prepare individual and business tax returns (Forms 1040, 1120, etc.).
    • Gather and organize information required for tax preparation.
    • Prepare payroll in accordance with the client's tax situation and applicable regulations.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with the client as needed. 
  • Review each client’s monthly reporting for punctuality, completeness and accuracy. 
  • Attend work meetings to review work completed and any other issues that may have arisen.
     

Must Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience, preferably in accounting and taxation.
  • Strong understanding of debits/credits, journal entries, and accrual/cash-based accounting.
  • Solid proficiency in using accounting software systems. (QBO, Xero, etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Tech-savvy and detail-oriented.
  • Proactive and self-starter. 
     

Nice to Haves

  • Demonstrated experience preparing individual tax returns for a variety of clients.
