About the job:
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required or equivalent work experience
- Minimum two years work experience in financial accounting showing progressively higher levels of responsibility is preferred
- Possess a working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet departmental deadlines
- Possess a working knowledge of how other modules affect the general ledger
- Detail-oriented with good organizational skills
- Excellent verbal/written communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work in a team setting and be a team player
- Maintain a positive, respectful approach with coworkers
- Proficiency in computer use and relevant software applications
- Possess the initiative to request, accept, and complete additional responsibilities
- Ability to promote a positive work environment while exhibiting a professional work ethic
- Ability to operate 10-key by touch
- Ability to work flexible hours, if required
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for financial accounting records from the general ledger through the preparation and verification of financial statements for assigned communities
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger by applying GAAP to all transactions
- Daily expense review and approval for assigned communities
- Prepare budget-to-actual variance analysis reports for assigned communities
- Perform various reconciliations of accounts and financial analysis, as assigned
- Review monthly balance sheet and profit-and-loss statements for accuracy
- Assist in coordinating monthly closing and production of statements to ensure timely reporting
- Assist in reviewing and updating monthly closing procedures
- Review supporting subsidiary schedules to ensure company accounting practices are maintained (e.g., insurance, fixed assets, amortization of prepaids) and make recommendations
- Assist with external audit preparation, as needed
- Accumulate the required tax package information for the tax accountant
- Reconciliation of bank accounts
- Peer review of financial statements
- Peer review of capitalized assets
- Personal property tax/sales and use tax preparation and review
- Tax reconciliations, as needed
- Assist with payroll uploads/reconciliations, as needed
- Assist with AP uploads/reconciliations, as needed
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor
