About the role
As a Sr AP/AR Specialist experienced in manufacturing accounting to handle our company’s books. The position is full-time and requires knowledge of a manufacturing ERP more detailed than Quickbooks.
Key Responsibilities
- AP/AR Management: Oversee and manage the complete accounting cycle, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
- Payroll Journal Entries: Prepare and maintain payroll journal entries to ensure accurate financial reporting of payroll expenses.
- Sales Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable sales tax regulations, including handling sales tax returns and reporting.
- Manage and process tariff drawback claims with US customs.
- Month-End Closing Activities: Reconciliation of bank accounts and credit cards, general ledger maintenance, and closing tasks.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Cash Flow and Inventory Analysis: Conduct analysis of cash flow and inventory to provide insights into financial performance.
- Investment of Excess Cash: Manage the investment of excess cash, ensuring optimal returns in accordance with company policy.
- Insurance Analysis: Analyze and track costs related to insurance, including product liability, building, and earthquake insurance.
- Sales & Marketing Budget Tracking: Monitor and analyze sales and marketing expenditures to ensure they stay within budget constraints.
- Foreign Currency Tracking: Track and analyze foreign currency fluctuations and their effect on costs and global pricing strategies.
- Rep Commission Analysis: Analyze and report on rep commissions, ensuring alignment with contractual agreements and budget expectations.
Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Bookkeeping certification is a plus.
- 7+ years of experience in a similar role, and previous experience as bookkeeper or in a similar role, with a strong focus on cost accounting in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in manufacturing cost accounting and related software.
- Experience with tax compliance and related software, such as Avalara.
- In-depth knowledge of tariff drawback procedures and regulations.
- Proven experience preparing accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
- Ability to work effectively within strict deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
