This CFO consultant has a dual role -- 50% internal facing to support very focused growth outcomes for the company, as well as 50% external facing supporting Client Delivery. This individual will be entrepreneurial, love working with startups and scaleups, and has either started and grown their own company or has grown a division within a larger organization.
The CFO consultant will join our team in a leadership role to scale the organization. This individual will head the ‘emerging growth finance practice (group)’.
Optimization of Emerging Growth Finance Practice will include:
Revenue Growth and Profitability: Support revenue growth by monitoring and optimizing project profitability, identifying and mitigating risks, and providing recommendations for pricing and fee structures. Continuously analyze and improve utilization rates and operational efficiencies to drive overall profitability of the finance vertical. Understands and develop KPIs
Product Development: Develop new products and innovate to create new revenue streams
Team: Hire, build, and manage a team of finance consultants with a mix of seniority and experience. Holds the team accountable and is experienced in providing performance feedback and coaching using quantitative metrics.
Business Development: Grow the finance vertical to generate $3-4M in annual revenue within 2-3 years. Business development and networking to create predictable lead generation to meet client acquisition targets.
CRM: Develop relationships with 20-40 clients across a variety of industries and geographies. Maximize billable hours by developing and implementing strategies to optimize client engagements, ensuring efficient use of resources, and identifying opportunities for additional services.
Client Delivery: Deliver high-quality projects that meet or exceed client expectations and result in positive client feedback. Find new opportunities to upsell services.
Sales: Build a strong reputation for the finance vertical and establish it as a go-to provider of CFO consulting services
Outcomes to Clients (External)
Strategy and Leadership: Act as a financial partner and advisor to the CEO, providing decision-making information and making actionable recommendations to improve company performance.
Financial Monitoring and Control: Manage relationships with banks, philanthropic and other financing institutions to secure funding. Oversee services performed by outside accounting services and establish a monthly reporting system to account for revenue booking and invoicing, sales tax and shipping cost charges, tracking of deferred revenue, customer cash receipts and accounts receivable. Manage the Treasury function including cash flow and forecasting, ensuring compliance with appropriate regulatory and audit requirements.
Financial Planning : Provide overall direction for maintaining the financial assets and resources of the Company, to provide a system of financial measurement and control and to manage on-going treasury activities. Take ownership for the financial and operational performance of the Company including close oversight and management of working capital, capital expenditures, debt and cash levels, key contracts, taxes, budget, and resource allocation management.
Systems And Processes: Plan technology investments and analyze data to provide decision-making information. Lead financial planning and analysis to support business decisions, provide strategic insights, and manage financial risk. Work with the executive team to establish finance goals, create strategies, and define success metrics.
Qualifications & Education
The ideal candidate will exhibit the following:
MBA in Finance or Accounting, with a preference for a CPA, CFA designation.
Minimum of 12-15 years of professional experience working in finance and accounting
Deep knowledge using QuickBooks (Online and Enterprise), Xero, INTACCT, and/or Netsuite accounting software. Must understand the startup tech stack and FP&A software for reporting.

Excellent communication skills (writing and speaking) in English. Must be able to express thoughts and opinions clearly and concisely. Ability to convert detailed financial analysis to understandable summaries and recommendations for management and board of directors.
